This month, the Vision Health Advocacy Coalition is excited to highlight the Sjögren’s Foundation. The foundation is dedicated to creating a community where patients, health care professionals and researchers can come together to raise awareness about the complexities of Sjögren’s.

Sjögren’s is an autoimmune disease that can affect the entire body. Patients can experience symptoms that range from dry eye to organ dysfunction. The Sjögren’s Foundation is committed to innovative research projects to better understand, diagnose and treat the disease.

“For more than 35 years, the Sjögren’s Foundation has been dedicated to expanding its outreach and increasing funding for research and education,” said Janet Church, Sjögren’s Foundation President and CEO. “We are proud to partner with the Vision Health Advocacy Coalition to continue to support patients living with this complex disease.”

The Sjögren’s Foundation raises awareness by hosting conferences, creating educational materials and promoting Sjögren’s Awareness Month. The Sjögren’s Foundation sponsors over 65 support groups for patients and caregivers throughout the United States and Canada.

The Sjögren’s Foundation also advocates for increased participation in clinical trials to develop new therapies for this disease. The Sjögren’s Foundation serves to correct the misunderstanding of the disease worldwide by bringing patient voices to Congress and leading medical and research institutions.
